Position: Fire Protection Systems Inspector
The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct inspections based on NFPA standards for water-based fire protection systems and fire alarm systems. Our objective is to enhance the inspection revenue while ensuring profitability, meeting customer expectations, and adhering to NFPA regulations.
This role demands a proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment, with a strong emphasis on customer engagement, high-quality performance, and a comprehensive understanding of the relevant NFPA codes applicable to fire systems.
* Full-Time position with travel required to various client locations.* Competitive salary and sign-on bonus available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct NFPA 25 inspections on various fire protection systems, including wet, dry, deluge, and pre-action systems, as well as standpipe systems, fire hydrants, and fire pumps.
- Perform NFPA 72 inspections on fire alarm systems, ensuring all components are thoroughly evaluated.
- Execute NFPA 10 inspections on fire extinguishers.
- Provide basic troubleshooting for wet fire systems and communicate findings to owners and service managers for necessary repairs.
- Carry out basic troubleshooting of fire alarm systems.
- Oversee and ensure the timely completion of all assigned tasks.
- Prepare and submit all inspection reports and work tickets promptly to administrative staff.
- Manage self-scheduling for daily inspections.
- Promote company services to both new and existing clients.
- Perform inspections using man lifts at heights of 30 to 40 feet as required.
- Conduct annual inspections on both domestic and fire backflow systems.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in conducting inspections.
- Vocational or industry trade school training is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the operational characteristics of various fire protection systems, including wet, dry, foam, deluge, pre-action, standpipe, fire hydrants, and fire pumps.
- Possession of relevant state licenses for conducting inspections on sprinkler systems, fire pumps, hydrants, fire alarms, and fire extinguishers.
- Individual backflow license is mandatory.
- Familiarity with NFPA 10, 25, and 72 standards.
- Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
- Ability to work safely on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Capability to obtain all necessary certifications, including NICET.
- NICET Level II certification in water-based or fire alarm systems is a plus.
- Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
- Experience with tablets, smartphones, and other technology is required.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
