Job Overview

The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a skilled Senior Construction Cost Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our Facilities Design and Construction leadership team, you will play a crucial role in developing estimating systems and processes. Your expertise will be essential in preparing accurate project work breakdown structures, calculating complete scope of work take-offs, applying construction means and methods, performing constructability reviews, and calculating total project costs.

**Key Responsibilities:**
  • Develop cost estimates, reports, and presentations.
  • Analyze historical data to identify trends and patterns.
  • Work with the Project Manager to develop cash flow schedules and estimates.
  • Understand market price for construction materials and labor costs in the Baltimore/Washington region.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Five (5) years related estimating experience.
  • Experience leading, assembling, and communicating estimate work to clients and bid sheets for contractors.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of experience in estimating/cost consulting.
  • Previous experience working on complex, secure government or defense industry projects.
  • Professional registration from a construction industry recognized association.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $220,000 annually.
