Administrative Officer

This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Chief of Resources Management Service and Fiscal Service within the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. The incumbent will serve as the executive assistant to the Chief and will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of resource management, including budget planning, procurement, and human resources.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and coordinate the functions of administrative services within the office, including budget activities, contracting functions, and human resources.
- Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Fiscal Service.
- Provide support to senior leadership in developing long-term and short-term policies and plans for the organization.
- Coordinate all program budget needs of Fiscal Service.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for Fiscal Service, including goals and objectives.
- Perform and oversee the full range of human resources requirements, including recruitment, position classification, performance, training, etc.
- Retain procurement records and reconciliations.
- Make space utilization recommendations.
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
- Experience in coordinating and monitoring the functions of administrative services within an office, managing budget activities, assisting with contracting functions and managing procurement, and assisting with human resources functions.
- Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. in a related field that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
The work is performed in a typical office setting, possibly shared office. The office will be within the physical structure of the hospital or one of its surrounding structures as well as Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). The work area is usually adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
Travel RequirementsOccasional travel is required to provide support at conferences, work groups, programs, or meetings. Travel may involve the use of private and/or commercial conveyance.
