Strathmoor Preschool Education Center has been a cornerstone of early childhood education in the Highland area of Louisville for over 70 years. We are looking for a reliable and self-driven individual with some experience in preschool education. The position requires availability from 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM daily. Our program caters to children aged 2 to 5 years. We observe holidays similar to the local school district calendar. Our team is compassionate and dedicated, taking early childhood education seriously. This role involves engaging in hands-on play and providing guidance to children. We cover the costs for professional development, CPR, and First Aid training. A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or a degree in early childhood education is preferred. Compensation is based on qualifications and experience. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check. This position is available for immediate start.

About Strathmoor Preschool Education Center

We are a four-star rated facility in Kentucky's All STARS program, excelling in early childhood education. Our learning environments are designed for hands-on activities that encourage children to explore and discover. Our centers include areas for art, reading, various building blocks, dramatic play, manipulatives, music, sand, science, and large motor skill development, either on the playground or in the gymnasium. We provide educational activities that introduce children to the alphabet, phonetics, pre-reading skills, basic math concepts, pre-writing, social studies, and seasonal awareness. Social skills are fostered through sharing, kindness, turn-taking, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Our classrooms are vibrant and active, filled with children engaging in conversation, play, and exploration. We create an environment that aligns with the developmental characteristics of young children, facilitating new discoveries through direct interaction, play, and exploration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the lead teacher in managing children and conducting small group activities.
  • Assist children with hygiene and cleanliness routines.
  • Help with children's meals, including lunch and snack times, as well as nap supervision.
  • Facilitate hands-on play experiences, ensuring children's safety and providing social/emotional support.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be 18 years or older and able to pass a background check.
  • Random drug and alcohol testing may be conducted.
  • Availability for a school year schedule is necessary.
  • We provide CPR and First Aid training, along with paid professional development opportunities.
  • A TB test is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children or in early childhood settings.
  • Management experience is a plus.
  • College degree or some college coursework.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
  • Degree in early childhood education or relevant coursework.
