At SPEC, a respected preschool program with over 70 years of service in the Louisville area, we are looking for a reliable and motivated individual with prior preschool experience. The role requires availability from 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM daily, catering to children aged 2 to 5 years. Our center follows a holiday schedule similar to local school calendars. Our team is committed to early childhood education, providing a nurturing environment where hands-on play and guidance are essential. We offer paid professional development opportunities, including CPR and First Aid training. A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or a degree in early childhood education is preferred. Compensation is based on qualifications and experience. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check. This position is open for immediate hiring.

About Strathmoor Preschool Education Center

We are a four-star rated facility in Kentucky's All STARS program, excelling in early childhood education. Our learning centers are designed for hands-on activities that encourage children to explore and discover. These centers include art, literature, building blocks, dramatic play, manipulatives, music, sand, science, and physical development areas. Our educational programs focus on teaching the alphabet, phonetics, pre-reading skills, basic math concepts, writing skills, social studies, and seasonal awareness. We foster social skills through sharing, kindness, turn-taking, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Our classrooms are vibrant and dynamic, filled with children engaging in conversation, play, and exploration. We create an environment that aligns with the developmental characteristics of young children, facilitating new discoveries through interactive experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the lead teacher in managing children and facilitating small group activities.
  • Assist children with hygiene and cleanliness routines.
  • Help with meal times, including lunches from home, snacks, and nap supervision.
  • Provide engaging play experiences while ensuring children's safety and offering social/emotional support.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be 18 years or older and able to pass a background check.
  • Random drug and alcohol testing may be conducted.
  • Availability for a school year schedule is necessary.
  • We provide CPR/First Aid training and paid professional development opportunities.
  • A TB test is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children or in early childhood settings.
  • Management experience is a plus.
  • Some college education or a degree in early childhood education.
  • Child Development Associate credential.
