Job Description

Channel Personnel Services is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Coordinator to join our team. As an Environmental Compliance Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring that our clients' facilities comply with all environmental regulations and permits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with state, federal, and local environmental regulations and permits.
  • Perform emissions calculations and review proposed or new regulations for applicability to the facility.
  • Coordinate sampling events and requirements to comply with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain compliance records and communicate environmental regulatory requirements and compliance status to facility management and staff.
  • Perform pretreatment inspections and coordinate with facility management and department heads for the generation and updating of compliance-driven Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and manuals.
  • Assist facility management in conducting interviews and plant tours with prospective dischargers and review all applications to discharge for completeness.
  • Evaluate proposed influent changes to determine whether compounds are acceptable within the guidelines of site permits.
  • Serve as liaison between company and users on all pretreatment regulatory issues and draft NOVs for noncompliance.
  • Review all required correspondence between company and users for accuracy and completeness and ensure all users' files are complete and reflect the latest operating conditions.
  • Review all lab data and Quality Assurance Data and Quality Control Data generated for the facility and work with Lab Manager(s) to resolve any problems identified in this area.
  • Monitor permit expiration dates and notify users of impending expiration and their need to renew.
  • Prepare and/or support the preparation of all facility permit applications, modifications, and renewals.
  • Prepare, update, and coordinate sampling schedules with operations and advise management of current environmental regulatory needs.
  • Compile data and generate correspondence, responses, and reports to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Represent the company at regulatory meetings, advisory committee meetings, conferences, and other environmental-related functions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, biology, environmental science, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience with environmental regulations and compliance associated with the operation of a wastewater treatment plant.
  • Air experience with Title V and NSR Permits.
  • Experience with Laboratory analyses and QA/QC.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of operations of wastewater treatment facilities including activated sludge wastewater treatment processes.
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations governing the operations of industrial biological wastewater treatment plants.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of the safe operation of wastewater treatment plants.
  • Knowledge of air emissions calculation practices.
  • Experience with WATER9 and/or Toxchem is desirable.
  • Knowledge of management and supervisory practices.
  • Ability to perform calculations necessary to monitor and control environmental compliance.
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry principles and practices including laboratory, sampling, and testing procedures.
  • Ability to write instructions, memoranda, reports, and training materials.
  • Ability to meet and communicate effectively with prospective users.
  • Ability to make effective presentations to groups.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as computer, calculator, and copier.
  • Ability to communicate orally in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to safely operate assigned vehicle and equipment.
