Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiac Vascular Sonographer to join our team at Wellstar Health System, Inc. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of technical procedures using ultrasound equipment to diagnose and treat various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise
    • Perform echocardiograms, vascular ultrasound exams, and other diagnostic procedures using ultrasound equipment.
    • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functioning.
    • Develop and maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to cardiac and vascular systems.
  • Patient Care
    • Provide excellent patient care and communication, ensuring patients are comfortable and informed throughout the exam process.
    • Verify patient identity and medical history before performing procedures.
    • Follow established protocols for patient preparation, positioning, and safety.
  • Quality Control
    • Ensure high-quality images and reports are produced, meeting departmental and regulatory standards.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and departmental efficiency.
    • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Operations
    • Manage and maintain departmental supplies, equipment, and inventory.
    • Assist with scheduling, patient flow, and departmental operations as needed.
    • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with industry developments and best practices.
Requirements
  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; formal diagnostic medical sonography program or cardiovascular technology program preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 1 year of experience in echocardiography or vascular sonography required.
  • Certifications
    • ARRT Vascular Sonography certification required; Reg Vascular Specialist, Reg Vascular Technologist, and Reg Cardiac Sonographer - CCI certifications preferred.
  • Skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
