Position Overview

Pulmonary Medicine Associates (PMA) is a well-established healthcare provider in the Sacramento region, specializing in various fields such as critical care, infectious disease, and pulmonology. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our dedicated team at our Napa clinic. Key Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of essential tasks, including:

  • Supporting the healthcare provider as needed.
  • Escorting patients to examination rooms.
  • Accurately measuring and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature prior to patient evaluations.
  • Documenting all relevant information in the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Performing specific tests and administering medications as directed by the healthcare provider.
  • Obtaining prior authorizations for prescribed medications.
  • Providing patient education through informational materials and aftercare instructions.
  • Ensuring examination rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patient use.
  • Maintaining sterile techniques when necessary.
  • Processing incoming documents and ensuring proper handling protocols are followed.
  • Verifying that all necessary patient information is available before appointments.
  • Managing patient communications through secure portals and assisting with any access issues.
  • Maintaining medical equipment and supplies.
  • Occasionally traveling to other clinic locations as required.
Additional Duties

Other responsibilities include:

  • Handling patient inquiries and scheduling appointments.
  • Assisting with incoming phone calls to the clinic.
  • Following clinic protocols for managing patient and pharmacy communications.
  • Collecting necessary documents and signatures to aid the provider in treatment decisions.
  • Communicating provider instructions to pharmacies and patients.
  • Uploading and labeling test results in the electronic medical record.
  • Adhering to clinic protocols for referrals.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure efficient patient scheduling.
  • Securing medication storage areas at the end of each day.
  • Participating in clinic meetings.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (RMA, CCMA, CMA) is advantageous.
  • Current CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Proficient computer skills, with experience in electronic medical records preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Capability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage patient records and correspondence efficiently.
  • Capacity to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • A valid driver's license and automobile insurance, with the ability to travel to various clinic locations.
