The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) is seeking a highly skilled Multimodal Planning Program Director to lead a team of professionals in carrying out major elements of work programs assigned to this unit.

**Job Description:**

This position requires no less than eight (8) years of personnel and project management experience working in transportation, urban planning, or a related field. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, technical expertise, and program management skills to manage people and programs that address key aspects of metropolitan transportation planning.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Serve on the department's senior leadership team, providing strategic, operational, and technical advice to the DTP Director and the TPB on regional transportation planning issues.
  • Develop and secure consensus among stakeholders on transportation safety, transit, bicycle/pedestrians, freight, resiliency, traffic operations, technology, grants/technical assistance, and other aspects of the region's transportation system.
  • Lead a team of 7+ professional staff in carrying out major elements of work programs assigned to this unit.
