Evening RN Unit Supervisor

Kensington Healthcare Center is seeking a dedicated RN Unit Manager to oversee the evening nursing operations.
The RN Unit Manager is responsible for coordinating the delivery of nursing services to residents while providing essential leadership to the nursing team, ensuring that care standards are upheld and that the highest quality of resident care is consistently delivered.
This role requires effective teamwork, leadership, and supervisory skills to guarantee that tasks are completed efficiently and that quality care is prioritized, while also recognizing and celebrating team achievements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring adequate nursing staffing levels to maintain quality resident care.
- Collaborating with the staff scheduler to monitor attendance and address disciplinary issues as necessary.
- Identifying staffing needs and communicating with the Director of Nursing.
- Facilitating the orientation and ongoing training of new nursing staff.
- Developing and assigning shift responsibilities for nursing personnel while monitoring performance to ensure compliance with nursing standards.
- Communicating effectively with ancillary departments and nursing staff during shift changes regarding resident conditions and concerns.
- Ensuring adherence to established departmental policies and procedures by all nursing staff.
- Evaluating staff performance and identifying opportunities for professional development.
- Recognizing staff achievements appropriately.
- Participating in center projects, program development, and committees as required.
- Addressing resident, family, and staff concerns promptly and effectively.
- Contributing to the case management of resident needs.
- Submitting reports and completing required documentation in a timely manner.
- Identifying and acting on quality improvement opportunities.
- Investigating and reporting any allegations of resident abuse or neglect.
The RN Unit Manager will also:
- Review all telephone orders received within the last 24 hours to ensure proper documentation.
- Engage in effective communication with the Director of Nursing or designee regarding unit issues.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, maintaining 24-hour responsibility for the assigned unit.
- Maintain knowledge of the financial aspects of nursing operations and ensure accurate documentation for reimbursement purposes.
- Manage resources effectively to ensure quality care for all residents.
Qualifications include:
- A minimum of a Nursing degree from an accredited institution or completion of an approved RN program.
- At least 5 years of experience in long-term care settings.
