Kensington Healthcare Center is seeking a dedicated RN Unit Manager to oversee nursing operations during the evening shift.

The RN Unit Manager is responsible for coordinating the provision of nursing care for residents, ensuring that the highest standards of care are consistently met. This role involves providing leadership to the nursing staff, fostering a collaborative environment that celebrates team achievements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adequate nursing staffing levels to deliver quality resident care.
  • Collaborate with the staff scheduler to monitor attendance and address any disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Identify staffing needs and communicate effectively with the Director of Nursing.
  • Facilitate the orientation and ongoing training of new nursing staff.
  • Develop and assign shift responsibilities for nursing personnel while monitoring their performance.
  • Maintain effective communication with ancillary departments regarding resident care during shift changes.
  • Ensure compliance with established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate staff performance and identify opportunities for professional development.
  • Recognize and celebrate staff achievements.
  • Engage in center projects and committees as required.
  • Address resident, family, and staff concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Participate in case management for residents.
  • Complete necessary reports and monitor compliance with Home Office requirements.
  • Identify and coordinate quality improvement initiatives.
  • Investigate and report any allegations of resident abuse or neglect.
  • Review telephone orders daily to ensure proper documentation.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with the Director of Nursing regarding unit issues.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, taking responsibility for the unit.
  • Manage nursing operations to ensure quality care and resource availability.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Nursing degree from an accredited institution and have at least five years of experience in long-term care settings.
