Position Overview: The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) plays a critical role in maintaining the operational security posture of information systems. This position collaborates closely with the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and Information Security Officer (ISO) to ensure comprehensive security measures are implemented and adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the ISSM in fulfilling their security obligations and responsibilities.
  • Prepare, review, and update security authorization packages to ensure compliance.
  • Establish and maintain approved procedures for the sanitization and destruction of hardware and media.
  • Inform the ISSM of any changes that may impact the security authorization of information systems.
  • Conduct regular assessments of information systems to verify adherence to security protocols.
  • Coordinate with the ISSM and Authorizing Official/Designated Approving Authority (AO/DAO) regarding any modifications to system hardware, software, or firmware.
  • Oversee system recovery processes to guarantee that security features are restored and functioning correctly.
  • Ensure that all security-related documentation is up-to-date and accessible to authorized personnel.
  • Collect, review, and document audit records, including any anomalies.
  • Participate in mandatory technical and security training relevant to assigned duties.
  • Execute the cybersecurity segment of self-inspections, providing security coordination and reviewing system assessment plans.
  • Identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities and assist in implementing necessary countermeasures.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems.
  • Perform ISSO duties in support of both internal and external clients.
  • Conduct security impact analysis for all configuration management changes affecting authorization boundaries.

Experience Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience, with a focus on Special Access Programs (SAP) being essential.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience (4 years).

Certifications:

  • IAT Level II certification is required to commence (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security).

Security Clearance:

  • Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance is mandatory.
  • Must be eligible to obtain TS/SCI with Counterintelligence Polygraph.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel 40% or more.
