Job Summary

The Community Director is a full-time live-in staff member of University Housing and Dining within the Division of Finance and Operations. This role is responsible for managing a residential area and working with the specific needs of assigned populations through a residential curriculum model. The Community Director will supervise graduate and undergraduate paraprofessional staff in creating a residential community environment and partner with Finance and Operations, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement residential curriculum, designing and implementing community plans with specific learning goals and outcomes.
  • Advise community council student leaders to enhance leadership and advocacy for residential communities.
  • Collaborate with academic and Student Affairs partners, including Faculty-in-Residence, Faculty Friends, etc., in assigned communities.
  • Supervise Graduate Assistants, Resident Assistants, and Desk Assistants, providing expectations and accountability for staff and evaluating their performance.
  • Manage KRONOS (timecard approval system) and create and implement training and development curriculum for Resident Assistants.
  • Assist with curriculum development and instruction of EDSA 3900: Student Development, Leadership, & Counseling for new RAs.
  • Assist in recruiting undergraduate, graduate, and full-time staff, upholding fair recruitment practices and ensuring a diverse staff.
  • Participate in annual training sessions for full-time, graduate, and undergraduate staff.
  • Follow up on student maintenance and custodial needs, assess and address building needs, and plan for furniture needs and space use.
  • Meet with students to provide coaching and mediation for shared living space and facilitate staff-approved room change processes.
  • Manage keys and manage budget expenditures for assigned budgets, following procurement and purchasing guidelines.
  • Serve on department, division, or University committees.
  • Receive and review all incident reports to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Meet with students as a conduct hearing officer to address behavior and impact on persons and the community.
  • Investigate individual and communal billing reports and assign fines and sanctions.
  • Ensure staff understands, upholds, and enforces University policies and procedures.
  • Implement sanctions and monitor progress of students.
  • Participate in student organizational cases.
  • Serve in a weekly on-call rotation at the first level of full-time staff response for all on-campus students.
  • Make decisions related to facility and student emergencies.
  • Provide support to undergraduate and graduate staff levels of on-call.
  • Identify and address safety and security issues in residential areas.
  • Partner with and provide assistance to CUPD.
  • Manage CARE for assigned students in conjunction with the Office of Advocacy & Success, providing support and referral, and appropriately documenting interactions.
  • Assist Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) with crisis management and implementation of programs.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a 1st Bachelor's Degree and experience in student services programs. The Community Director must be able to supervise work of others, provide budget input, and work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Working Conditions

The Community Director will work in a residential area with frequent interactions with students, staff, and faculty. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively, work in a team environment, and make decisions in a timely manner.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $38,000 - $43,050.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
