Registry positions do not guarantee hours and do not include a medical benefits package. BSS requires completion of a post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment, drug screening, and background checks (including employment, criminal, and educational history).
We are currently seeking a Part-Time Rehabilitation Specialist. This role will involve providing weekend coverage.
POSITION SUMMARY
This role is responsible for the assessment, planning, execution, and oversight of rehabilitation treatment in accordance with physician referrals, state and national standards, regulatory requirements, and established departmental policies and procedures. This position requires clinical competence and knowledge to deliver treatment suitable for the age of the patients served.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assesses the patient's functional capabilities and limitations. Determines the necessity for intervention. Develops a care plan and treatment objectives. Completes a thorough evaluation within the designated timeframe set by the department. Identifies and prioritizes key limiting factors. Establishes treatment goals that are functional, measurable, patient-centered, and reflective of the key limiting factors. Collaborates with the patient and family/caregiver when setting goals. Initiates discharge planning and recommends modifications to referring orders.
2. Executes an individualized treatment plan considering the patient's physical, social, spiritual, cultural, educational, and age-specific needs. Provides skilled treatment safely. Evaluates ongoing treatment effectiveness and adjusts the care plan as necessary. Involves the patient and family/caregiver in the treatment and decision-making process. Provides continuous education to physicians, nurses, patients, families/caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team.
3. Documents in accordance with professional practice guidelines established by regulatory agencies. Ensures documentation is legible and completed within the department's established timeframes. Records evidence-based and individualized treatment techniques/plans. Documentation reflects skilled intervention and a comprehensive assessment of the patient's progress or lack thereof. Treatment goals are reassessed according to departmental policies.
4. Communicates relevant patient information to ensure optimal continuity of care. Shares evaluation/treatment results and patient progress with physicians, nurses, patients, families/caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team in a clear and timely manner. Takes responsibility for contacting physicians for routine or complex problem-solving to ensure the best patient outcomes. Justifies treatment rationale with standard practices and/or current literature.
5. Demonstrates flexibility in assignments related to caseload, scheduling, and staffing shifts. Takes the initiative to assist in other patient care areas and accepts responsibility for all patient care needs.
6. Exhibits appropriate supervision and delegation of personnel to ensure the safe delivery of quality, cost-effective patient care. Supervision and delegation of the PTA, ATC, Therapy Technician, and students comply with departmental policies and regulatory standards. Participates in the training and orientation of new staff. Ensures personnel competency before delegating tasks.
7. Engages in departmental operational activities. Attends required departmental meetings and/or follows up to gather pertinent information. Participates in departmental/facility process improvement initiatives. Meets productivity standards set by the department.
8. This position involves interaction with all levels of staff across various departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts such as employees from other healthcare institutions, community providers, and agencies regarding patient care. Also interacts with physician offices to report, request, or clarify information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have graduated from an APTA accredited institution of Physical Therapy or equivalent.
Must hold a current Physical Therapy license within the state of practice. BLS certification is required.
Demonstrates clinical competency, experience, training, and education necessary to perform the job throughout the interview process.
Employees working for Banner Home Care/Hospice or Boswell Skilled Nursing Facility must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of their employment. Employees at Banner Scottsdale Sports Medicine, second floor, must also possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of their employment.
Must be able to become proficient with commonly used computer software applications in an automated patient care environment, as well as patient care equipment, evaluation tools, and therapeutic modalities. Familiarity with office equipment such as copiers, multi-line telephones, fax machines, computers, pagers, and miscellaneous office tools is essential.
