Time and Attendance Specialist

Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking an experienced Time and Attendance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our payroll and time management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions for the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board (MVDB).

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex analysis of payroll transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with state regulations
  • Serve as the primary liaison to Payroll Services Bureau (PSB) and DMV financial partners
  • Collaborate with Benefits Analysts to ensure timely and accurate reporting of employee documents
  • Provide exceptional customer service to employees regarding time, attendance, and payroll inquiries
  • Research and resolve payroll-related problems or questions directly with employees

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and payroll processing requirements
  • Demonstrated understanding of payroll laws, rules, and regulations
  • Ability to apply and adapt policies and procedures to reconcile payroll and time and attendance transactions
  • Proficiency in various software programs, including Excel spreadsheets
  • Experience performing detailed accounting work and providing high levels of customer service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience processing or working with Virginia state payroll and time and attendance
  • Knowledge of payroll processing in Virginia state payroll systems
  • Experience in Oracle, ADP, Kronos, or equivalent
