About This Role:

Culinary Service Associates play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of safe and nutritious meals for residents and guests within our dining facilities. Responsibilities may include tasks related to food service, sanitation, or food production. Shifts will vary based on operational needs. This is a temporary position allowing up to 999 hours of work in a 12 month period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a range of simple entrees and side dishes following standardized recipes. Handle fresh produce and assist with the preparation, labeling, and freezing of ingredients.
  • Set up and organize the cafeteria, salad bar, dessert area, and dining room for service. Adjust food holding equipment temperatures; gather utensils, containers, and prepare condiments and beverages; arrange food on serving stations.
  • Attend to customer needs during meal service by ensuring prompt and friendly service, assisting customers with special requirements, and maintaining cleanliness in serving and dining areas.
  • Operate, clean, and sanitize equipment in the dishwashing area. Clean and sanitize tableware, utensils, pots, and pans. Maintain cleanliness in the dining facility; launder, fold, and store linens. Adhere to all established HACCP and food safety protocols.
  • Engage in daily meetings and collaborate effectively with colleagues to achieve departmental goals.
  • May provide training and support to student employees.
  • Perform all assigned duties in a manner that fosters a collaborative and respectful work environment, supporting the educational mission of the university.

  • Some experience in food production or service in an institutional or high-volume setting.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Capability to accurately measure and weigh ingredients, care for equipment, and handle food safely while preparing high-quality products.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Moderate physical exertion is required to perform the essential functions of this position, including lifting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, repetitive movement, and transporting items up to 50 lbs.
