Job Summary

This position is responsible for all aspects of facilities needs for automation, fixturing, and secondary equipment. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for quoting, designing, installing, programming, debugging, and troubleshooting. The role also involves being the main contact or assisting others in the development and managing of outside vendors used to develop the above equipment when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, install, and program automation equipment
  • Debug and troubleshoot automation systems
  • Manage outside vendors for equipment development
  • Assist in the development of automation systems
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production, and assembly departments
  • Maintain safety measures and train on correct operation and maintenance
  • Participate in cost reduction and continuous improvement activities
Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), three to five years of related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in project management and ergonomics is desired. Exceptional PC skills including Manufacturing software and Microsoft Office Suite are required. Knowledge of molding processes and related support processes and secondary operations of plastics is desirable. Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) use and programming ability is required.

Work Environment

The Automation Engineer will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a focus on automation and equipment installation. The role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
