Job Overview:

The Janitor is responsible for the custodial upkeep of commercial facilities, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all occupants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute all assigned tasks in accordance with the training received and adhere to Corporate, Project, and/or Contractual standards.
  • Conduct all work safely, complying with Company/Project safety protocols.
  • Deliver high-quality results that align with Corporate, Project, and/or Contractual Quality expectations.
  • Perform dry mopping, sanitizing, and wet mopping of floors.
  • Maintain cleanliness of baseboards, corners, and edges.
  • Conduct spot cleaning of walls, doors, and windows as necessary.
  • Vacuum carpets effectively.
  • Clean and disinfect restroom facilities, including commodes, urinals, showers, partitions, floors, and walls.
  • Sanitize group and shower locker rooms, ensuring all surfaces are cleaned.
  • Restock restroom supplies, including toilet paper, paper towels, seat covers, and soap dispensers.
  • Refill breakroom supplies with paper towels and hand soap.
  • Empty trash receptacles regularly.
  • Collect recyclables and place them in designated areas.
  • Clean water fountains and glass surfaces, both interior and exterior.
  • Mix cleaning chemicals and solutions as required.
  • Observe and report any necessary repairs for furniture, buildings, and fixtures.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude when interacting with customers, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Ensure effective communication with management, employees, and clients.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Safety Protocols:
  • Participate in and comply with the GCR Occupational Safety & Health Program.
  • Conduct all tasks safely to prevent injuries and property damage.
  • Follow safety guidelines, including job hazard analysis and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Exemplify a commitment to the Company/Project Safety Culture through leadership and personal example.
  • Monitor safety compliance among team members and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Report all occupational injuries, unsafe conditions, and property damage immediately.
  • Enforce the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Always wear a seatbelt when operating or riding in a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Avoid distractions such as phone calls or texting while driving.
  • Maintain fitness for work, free from the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to necessary facilities.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least two years of recent experience in commercial janitorial services.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working on government contracts is a plus.
