About the Role:

The Janitorial Specialist will be responsible for performing various tasks associated with commercial custodial cleaning of buildings. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, able to work independently, and possess excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all assigned work following the training provided and in compliance with Corporate, Project, and/or Contractual guidelines.
  • Perform all assigned work in a safe manner and in conformance with Company/Project safety requirements.
  • Perform all assigned work in a manner that meets quality expectations and is in compliance with Corporate, Project, and/or Contractual Quality guidelines.
  • Dry Mops sanitizes and wet mops floors.
  • Cleans baseboards, corners, and edges.
  • Spot cleans walls, doors, and windows as required.
  • Vacuums carpet.
  • Cleans and disinfects restroom commodes, urinals, showers, partitions, floors, and walls.
  • Cleans and disinfects group/shower locker rooms to include all vertical and horizontal walls and lockers.
  • Stocks restroom toilet paper, paper towels, seat covers, and soap dispensers.
  • Stocks breakrooms with paper towels and hand soap.
  • Empties trash cans.
  • Collects recyclables and places as directed in collection areas.
  • Cleans water fountains.
  • Cleans interior and exterior glass.
  • Mixes chemicals/cleaning fluids, as necessary.
  • Observes and reports need for repair of furniture, building, and fixtures.
  • Presents a professional, positive, and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with customers, co-workers, and supervision.
  • Maintains effective communication with management, employees, and customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Safety Requirements:

  • Complies with and actively participates in the GCR Occupational Safety & Health Program.
  • Perform all assigned work safely and reasonably that avoids preventable injury and preventable property/equipment damage to you, co-workers, Customers, the Company, and/or the public.
  • Safely performs functions of the position including proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and wearing PPE as required.
  • Through leadership and personal example, exemplify a personal commitment to and support of the Company/Project Safety Culture.
  • Monitor subordinate safety compliance, ensuring safety is an integral part of all work activities.
  • Take appropriate corrective action (stop-work, remedial training, disciplinary action, etc.) when subordinates fail to comply with established OSH policies & procedures to prevent recurrence.
  • Immediately report all occupational injuries, unsafe conditions, and/or property damage.
  • Use and enforce the wearing of personal protective equipment.
  • Always wear a seatbelt while operating/riding in a company vehicle, or a privately owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of the Company.
  • Never talk on the phone without hand free option or text message while operating in a company vehicle or a privately owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of the Company.
  • Not be unfit for work due to the presence, ingestion, consumption, or inhalation of illegal drugs, prescribed medications, over-the-counter drugs, and/or alcohol.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain base access.
  • Submit to and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of recent experience in commercial janitorial cleaning.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working on government contracts.
