Leidos is in need of a Systems Engineer with substantial knowledge in operating systems and server hardware to enhance our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Collaborate across various DOD agencies to transition IT services into a unified hosting framework.

Your role will be pivotal in executing discovery, design, and planning tasks to support the establishment of a premier Single Service Provider for the Department of Defense.

Leidos seeks top-tier talent to manage the extensive scope and complexity of this initiative. A successful candidate will possess a well-rounded technical background, delivering high-quality work with meticulous attention to detail.

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

  • Must hold an active Secret security clearance or be eligible for submission and capable of maintaining an active Secret security clearance once granted. (US Citizenship required)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Document the current infrastructure setup, requirements, and overall architecture. Collaborate with various stakeholders to create both high-level and detailed designs for the existing infrastructure. Identify potential areas for enhancement.
Formulate a strategy to transition the current infrastructure into a singular architecture and devise a hardware procurement plan necessary for the migration.

Design solutions, integrate, configure, test, and deploy a variety of server-based applications utilizing Windows and Linux operating systems across different virtualization platforms and cloud environments.

Enhance overall system performance and streamline migration workflows. Conduct data captures to gather computing performance and system configuration insights. Define migration strategies that expedite execution while minimizing disruption to the user community. Establish migration plans for intricate n-tier applications and services.
Collect essential data to project long-term capacity and performance needs.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (preferred) with 8-12 years of experience, or a Master's degree in a related field with 6-10 years of experience (additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree).
Active DoD IAT Level II (i.e., Security+) certification or equivalent required prior to commencement.

Experience in documenting logical or physical designs using drawing tools (e.g., Visio, PowerPoint, Gliffy, Cameo, MagicDraw) to illustrate systems, subsystems, interfaces, components, and communications of IT applications and infrastructure. Familiarity with requirements management and analysis.

Comfortable with conducting technical troubleshooting to resolve issues. Experience in creating or executing a migration plan to transition services, applications, or data between environments or to a commercial cloud provider. Alternatively, experience in planning or executing a technology refresh or lifecycle refresh of an existing IT system.

Experience in conducting site surveys or analyzing data obtained from site surveys. Must have broad exposure to common IT infrastructure with at least one area of depth in networking, storage, Identity and Access Management, operating systems, server virtualization, enterprise productivity applications, voice, desktops, or mobile devices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

This includes drafting SOPs and technical documentation. Must be capable of presenting designs and plans to technical leadership for approval.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with cloud technologies (i.e., VCF, AWS, Azure, Oracle, or Google). Familiarity with networking technologies. Experience with one or more IT discovery tools (e.g., Solarwinds, Device42, ServiceNow, or similar). Completion of one or more compute certifications that meet or exceed MCSA, VCTA, RHCSA, Server+, or comparable vendor certification.

Knowledge of one or more virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V. Experience in managing enterprise storage solutions (i.e., Dell PowerStore/Unity, HPE Alletra/3PAR, NetApp AFF Series). Experience in managing enterprise backup solutions (i.e., CommVault, PowerProtect, Veeam). Proficient in deploying and maintaining Windows Server and/or Red Hat systems.

Experienced with Active Directory and Group Policy management and design. Familiarity with patching technologies (i.e., VMware LCM/VUM, MECM/SCCM, Satellite/Ansible). Experience working collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
