We are seeking a Medical Records Abstractor to join our onsite team in Philadelphia, PA.

The successful candidate will perform timely and efficient abstraction and scanning of medical record charts, verifying data for accuracy and completeness.

This role is critical in meeting and exceeding GuideIT customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cross-check patient demographics for accurate patient identification
  • Search computerized medical records for pertinent patient histories and associated documentation
  • Enter patient data accurately
  • Scan paper charts correctly
  • Track charts and completion times accurately
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 2+ years' experience in clinical data abstraction and coding, or 1+ year as a healthcare professional
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred
  • Preference given to candidates with advanced clinical degrees and experience in a clinical setting
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Protect confidential clinical data and complete HIPAA compliance training
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Present professionally in a customer location
  • Communicate proactively and clearly with team members and leadership
Education and Certifications
  • High school diploma and/or GED certificate required
