Job Title: Rhode Island Donor Care Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Donor Care Technician to join our team at the Rhode Island Blood Center. As a Donor Care Technician, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to blood donors, ensuring a positive and pleasant experience for each individual. Your primary focus will be on performing whole blood collections, donor interviews, and evaluating suitability for donation. You will also be responsible for maintaining confidentiality of donor information, performing pre-draw QC and post-draw activities, and adhering to safety procedures and policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service to blood donors, ensuring a positive and pleasant experience.
  • Perform whole blood collections, donor interviews, and evaluate suitability for donation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of donor information.
  • Perform pre-draw QC and post-draw activities, including cleaning equipment, restocking supplies, and removing/storing supplies in a controlled area.
  • Work mobiles as assigned, participating in pre-draw setup and post-draw packing of supplies and equipment, and cleanup of controlled supplies.
  • Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
  • Comply with safety procedures and policies.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in dress, personal grooming, and hygiene.
  • Exemplify NYBC core values and meet or exceed internal and external customer service expectations.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment and/or phlebotomy preferred.
  • Superior customer service skills are essential in this role.
  • Individual must be well organized, attentive to detail, adapt easily to varied work conditions and scheduled hours, adapt easily to change, present with a pleasant and positive attitude, demonstrate honesty and dependability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic writing skills.
  • Must be able to fluently speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
  • CPR certification preferred.
Schedule:

Varied work schedule includes days, evenings, and weekends. Hours to be scheduled are between the hours of 6:30 am- 5:30 pm and every other weekend. Mileage is paid. Applicants must have a reliable vehicle. Travel throughout RI, CT, and MA is required.
