The Director of National Accounts for Federal Markets is tasked with crafting and refining the strategic operational framework for Federal Accounts while overseeing the business relationships with our clients.

This position is pivotal in ensuring profitable access to all Biogen products, acting as the primary representative for Biogen within these accounts.

The individual will manage the complete portfolio of their clients, necessitating a profound comprehension of their operational models and growth strategies. Establishing extensive executive relationships, leading contract negotiations, and identifying innovative approaches to enhance Biogen's market presence are essential responsibilities.

The Director will guide substantial internal stakeholder teams, including business leaders, to formulate strategies aimed at optimizing product revenue, ensuring profitable access, maximizing outcomes, and developing customer initiatives.

In this role, the candidate will engage more frequently with headquarters leaders across various functions, providing critical customer insights and consistently reporting on customer, product, and innovation developments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all business dealings with key Federal entities, including the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense.
  • Expertly negotiate contracts that are financially advantageous, while understanding the implications of contract language.
  • Ensure profitable access across all business units, tracking and reporting on product profitability and performance.
  • Analyze the internal dynamics of client enterprises and devise engagement strategies.
  • Develop innovative solutions for complex challenges that propel business growth.
  • Lead and mentor internal stakeholders regarding Federal Market Access and the impact of strategic decisions.
  • Conduct bi-annual business reviews with franchise leads.
  • Demonstrate the value of our offerings to position Biogen as an industry leader.
  • Create strategic account plans and monitor progress towards achieving both immediate and long-term objectives.
  • Possess a deep understanding of the Federal Market ecosystem, analyzing market trends and competitive activities while addressing data and reporting challenges.
  • Collaborate on pricing strategies within the Federal sector.
  • Represent Biogen at significant Federal Conferences and Congresses.
Who You Are

A vital member of the Market Access Team, responsible for leading the planning, development, and execution of our market access strategy for both current and future products within the Federal Markets sector, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Tricare, and Public Health Services. This individual is a strong leader who fosters collaboration across various boundaries to achieve outstanding results.

Possessing extensive expertise in government healthcare programs and managed markets, the candidate will create profitable access while driving growth within the existing portfolio.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with a preference for candidates who are veterans.
  • Experience with Federal Accounts and familiarity with National PBM is preferred.
  • Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate ideas to key internal partners.
  • Ability to lead within a matrixed team, achieving objectives through both formal and informal networks.
  • Strategic thinker with an understanding of the rationale behind key policies and the ability to engage with senior leaders across functional groups.
  • Demonstrated success in account management with a grasp of the complexities of the Federal Government space.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as per company policy.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.
Education

A Bachelor's Degree is required; a Master's Degree or higher is preferred. Advanced training in relevant market access disciplines is a plus.
