Primary Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing resource management within designated areas to achieve peak efficiency while upholding high-quality standards.
  • Engaging all team members in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to guarantee optimal performance of equipment and machinery, thereby reducing downtime.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe working environment across all departmental areas.
  • Collaborating with Production Control to coordinate production schedules, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining customer lead times of six weeks or less.
  • Managing the procurement process for materials (e.g., paint supplies) to ensure availability for production needs.
  • Handling staffing, training, development, scheduling, and succession planning.
  • Assisting the Plant Manager with capacity planning initiatives.
  • Fostering and enhancing customer relationships.
  • Building inter-departmental relationships with Sales, Production Control, Quality, Human Resources, Environmental, and Maintenance teams.
Key Duties:
  • Articulating and disseminating Bonnell's Vision, ensuring each Supervisor and employee understands their role in achieving it.
  • Tracking departmental performance (e.g., quality, efficiency, safety, on-time delivery, lead times) and making necessary adjustments.
  • Facilitating employee development and training through personal coaching and feedback, administering progressive discipline when required, and conducting semi-annual performance reviews.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction by understanding their requirements and communicating them to department staff. Regularly visiting customers to address concerns and build relationships.
  • Engaging in production planning at the plant level, assessing departmental capacities, and determining appropriate shifts, crews, and schedules.
  • Optimizing resource utilization for cost control or reduction, evaluating, purchasing, and installing equipment that enhances quality or reduces costs. Leading Process Improvement Team initiatives.
  • Maintaining a Safe Work Environment by ensuring compliance with all OSHA regulations and engaging the entire department in a safety program, identifying and rectifying safety issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental and governmental regulations, coordinating efforts with the Environmental Department.
  • Promoting and supporting Process Improvement Teams, involving employees in immediate process enhancement efforts, and participating in TPM audits and departmental TPM projects.
  • Facilitating effective communication with supervisors, employees, peer managers, the Plant Manager, Sales, Division Management, Production Control, customers, and suppliers.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, specifically in aluminum extrusion and/or paint processes, is preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential.
