Job Overview

Position Summary: The Hawthorne School District is seeking a dedicated Educational Support Facilitator to assist in the delivery of effective instructional practices under the guidance of the School Principal and collaborating with the certified teacher of record. This role encompasses a variety of educational activities aimed at enhancing student learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the certified teacher to design and implement instructional activities tailored for individual, small group, and whole class settings.
  • Reinforce concepts taught by the certified teacher to ensure student comprehension.
  • Utilize positive behavior management strategies to foster student engagement and support.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of instructional materials and resources for effective learning.
  • Maintain accurate records, including confidential student information and progress reports.
  • Oversee educational materials, technology platforms, and assist students and families in their effective use.
  • Administer assessments and document results to track student progress.
  • Promote a constructive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Engage in parent-teacher conferences and communicate student progress as directed.
  • Work collaboratively with district and site personnel.
  • Provide basic first aid and seek assistance for more serious health issues.
  • Assist with personal care needs for students requiring additional support.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of child development principles and behavioral characteristics.
  • Familiarity with student behavior management techniques.
  • Proficient in English language usage, including grammar and punctuation.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of record management systems and procedures.

Skills:

  • Ability to engage students through effective instructional strategies.
  • Exhibit patience and understanding towards students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written forms.
  • Perform clerical tasks and operate educational and office equipment.
  • Contribute to a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
  • Follow directions provided by teachers and administrators accurately.
  • Build and maintain cooperative relationships with students and staff.

Physical Requirements:

Individuals in this role may need to exert 10 to 20 pounds of force regularly to move objects. The position primarily involves sitting, with occasional walking or standing required. Essential functions include the ability to perceive sounds, maintain visual acuity, and demonstrate manual dexterity for operating equipment.

Experience and Education:

Experience: A minimum of one year in an instructional role within early childhood education.

Education: Candidates should possess an Associate's degree or higher in a related field, along with three units of supervised field experience in early childhood education, or have completed 24 ECE units with additional general education credits.

Certification:

  • Must hold a Child Development Teacher Permit.
  • Current First Aid certification, including CPR training, is required.
