The Financial Analyst is responsible for executing administrative and analytical tasks that support the operational activities of the Department of Medicine. This role is pivotal in maintaining the financial accuracy of the Department by overseeing, evaluating, and reporting on financial and compensation metrics.

  • Engages with colleagues, visitors, and other personnel in alignment with the core values of Jefferson.
  • Supports faculty in human resources activities (Position Control) related to the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of staff, including volunteers and students.
  • Assists the Associate Administrator in formulating budgets related to research and administrative functions, adhering to University standards. Prepares necessary budget documentation and conducts budget reconciliation and analysis. Generates financial forecasts and clarifies budget discrepancies as required by the Department and University.
  • Manages pre-award and post-award processes for all federal and non-federal grant accounts. Develops budgets for new and ongoing grant applications, ensuring timely submission of required documents as dictated by grant budgets.
  • Monitors the financial activities of the Center's College, Research, Trust, Gift, and Special Purpose accounts. Reviews and performs monthly reconciliations of all financial statements. Analyzes variance reports compared to previous years and budgets, as necessary. Provides summary data to the Associate Administrator, Division Director, and Department and University.
  • Creates divisional financial and statistical reports and analyses as requested by the Division Director and Department.
  • Reviews and authorizes divisional financial transactions, including purchase requests, payment requests, interdepartmental transfers, cost transfers, and petty cash. Identifies and assigns appropriate charge codes for all expenditures, ensuring compliance with budgetary limits and University guidelines.
  • Handles administrative functions such as daily office operations, maintaining the Director's calendar, scheduling meetings and seminars, timekeeping, ordering and managing office supplies, processing reimbursements, overseeing mail processing and distribution, and managing various payment requests.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance is preferred.

1-3 years of financial experience is advantageous.

Covid Vaccination is mandatory for employment at Jefferson for individuals working in clinical settings or at the University.
