Position Overview:
As a Floor Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for the comprehensive upkeep of both hard surfaces and carpets. This includes tasks such as stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting in various areas including offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine floor maintenance tasks, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation.
- Dust surfaces, empty waste baskets, and reline them as necessary.
- Damp wipe furniture and clean metal and porcelain fixtures in restrooms.
- Mop and sanitize floors in rooms and offices, ensuring a hygienic environment.
- Spot clean walls and windows, maintaining a pristine appearance.
- Replenish room supplies and conduct discharge cleaning as assigned.
- Vacuum carpets and perform spot cleaning as required.
- Execute heavier cleaning tasks in designated areas.
- Manage project work, including the disposal of trash, linen, and garbage.
- Notify supervisors of any major repairs or maintenance needs for lighting, heating, and ventilation systems.
Floor Technicians are expected to work independently with minimal supervision, adhere to project schedules, and collaborate with customers to minimize disruptions in clinical areas while completing assigned tasks. A willingness to perform routine and repetitive tasks is essential, as is the ability to accept guidance from multiple supervisors and maintain focus despite frequent interruptions.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Deliver the highest quality of service to customers consistently.
- Sign in and out for your pager/phone as applicable.
- Adhere to pager/phone protocols and Personal Protective Equipment procedures.
- Transport waste from designated areas and cycle clean ceilings and walls.
- Measure and mix cleaning chemicals accurately.
- Assist in managing emergency spills promptly.
- Report customer feedback or complaints to supervisors.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in assigned work areas.
- Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
- Comply with all hospital and departmental policies.
- Be flexible and willing to take on additional duties as needed.
Experience Required:
1-2 years of experience in floor care is preferred.
Special Requirements:
Candidates must possess the ability to operate specialized floor care equipment, including but not limited to: Side by Side Orbital Machine, Carpet Extractor, Floor Burnisher, and Auto Scrubber. Effective communication skills and the ability to perform tasks with consideration for patients, staff, and visitors in the vicinity are essential.
