About This Role:

Culinary Service Associates play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of safe and nutritious meals for residents and guests in our dining facilities. Responsibilities may include tasks related to food service, sanitation, or food preparation. Work schedules will vary. This is a temporary position allowing up to 999 hours of work in a 12-month period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a range of simple entrees and side dishes using standardized recipes. Handle fresh produce and assist with food preparation, labeling, and storage.
  • Set up and organize the cafeteria, salad bar, dessert area, and dining room for service. Ensure proper temperature settings for food holding equipment; gather utensils and prepare condiments and beverages.
  • Attend to customer needs during meal service by providing prompt and friendly service, assisting those with special requirements, and maintaining cleanliness in serving and dining areas.
  • Operate, clean, and sanitize equipment in the dishwashing area. Ensure cleanliness of tableware, utensils, and the dining facility; manage linens appropriately. Adhere to all established food safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Engage in daily meetings and collaborate effectively with colleagues to achieve departmental goals.
  • May offer training and support to student employees.
  • Perform all tasks in a manner that fosters a team-oriented and respectful work environment, promoting the university's principles of community.

  • Some experience in food preparation or service in a large-scale setting.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Capability to accurately measure ingredients, utilize equipment properly, and handle food safely while preparing high-quality products.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Moderate physical exertion is necessary to perform the essential functions of this position, including lifting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, repetitive movement, and transporting items up to 50 lbs.
