Position Overview

ProCare Therapy is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) within a reputable educational institution. This position requires a minimum of 1+ years of interpreting experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate and effective interpretation of spoken language into sign language and vice versa.
  • Facilitate clear communication between deaf or hard of hearing individuals and hearing individuals across various environments.
  • Adjust interpreting style and vocabulary to align with the preferences and requirements of the individuals involved.
  • Maintain impartiality and confidentiality throughout all interpreting assignments.
  • Stay informed on relevant terminology and industry standards to deliver high-quality interpretation services.
  • Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant sign languages.
  • Possess certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification).
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity towards the deaf and hard of hearing community.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Flexibility to work in diverse settings and adapt to various communication styles.
  • Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter is preferred but not mandatory.
