Position Summary

The Starter plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the golf course and pro shop. Under the guidance of the General Manager and management team, this position is responsible for facilitating a seamless experience for patrons on the golf course.

The Starter's responsibilities encompass various tasks, including managing the driving range and overseeing the golf course's flow. This role is vital in creating a positive first impression for our customers and requires a commitment to punctuality and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle customer transactions, including credit card, gift card, and check payments, while adhering to the golf course's policies on refunds and returns.
  • Manage phone inquiries, schedule tee times, and provide information regarding operations.
  • Monitor the pace of play on the golf course to ensure an enjoyable experience for all players.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete daily tasks and checklists.
  • Utilize sound judgment to address customer complaints and resolve challenging situations.
  • Restock merchandise in the pro shop and maintain awareness of inventory levels.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, and overall retail operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas, including the pro shop and restrooms.
  • Supervise cart attendants and outside service staff during shifts.
  • Complete daily task lists in collaboration with fellow employees.
  • Perform duties typically assigned to cart attendants, on-course attendants, or event staff as needed.
Qualifications
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey guest needs to team members.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Adhere to the dress code, including wearing staff polos or golf-branded apparel.
  • Acceptable attire includes khaki or golf pants, skirts, or joggers; no cutoffs or sweatpants permitted.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years with a valid driver's license.
  • Capacity to stand for 6-8 hours during shifts.
  • A positive attitude is essential for success in this role.
  • Commitment to working a minimum of two days per week, including during school and sports seasons.
