Staff Attorney

The Virginia Department of Human Resource Management is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Attorney to join our team. As a Staff Attorney, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and guidance to officials and employees who are covered by the Conflict(s) of Interests Acts, as well as registered Virginia lobbyists.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide written guidance and legal opinions to officials and employees
- Draft Formal Advisory Opinions
- Conduct legal research
- Provide training on the Acts and lobbying laws to officials, employees, and lobbyists
- Draft legislation as may be required by the Division
- Prepare speaking points and memoranda as requested by Council members or members of the General Assembly
- Active member in good standing of the Virginia Bar, or in the process of taking the bar after graduation
- 1-2 years of experience in a legal, staffing, or policy analysis role
- Knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules
