Job Summary:

As a Maintenance Operations Supervisor with the Navy Exchange, you will oversee the maintenance and repair of mechanized machinery and equipment in support of all operations at a CONUS worldwide support NEXCOM Regional Distribution Center. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills to ensure the efficient operation of the distribution center.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Execute and maintain the Distribution Center Maintenance Management Program, preparing and disseminating DC guidance and procedures.
  • Assist in executing the program, obtaining support where necessary, and providing input for facilities improvements.
  • Establish timelines, flow charts, and plans of action to initiate, execute, and complete distribution center improvement projects.
  • Assist with the ongoing working relationship with Public Works, base sanitation, fire safety, and environmental departments.
  • Act as the Assistant Contracting Representative or Contract Representative over applicable DC contracts.
  • Manage a comprehensive maintenance program, accepting work orders, prioritizing work, and leveling resources to accomplish work in the most efficient manner.
  • Supervise associates involved in performing maintenance, overhaul, and repair work of major components and assemblies.
  • Determine the exact nature and extent of repairs required and perform major and minor overhaul and repair on engines, transmissions, and related systems.
  • Use a wide variety of test equipment to trace and locate defects.
  • Provide guidance on preventative and corrective maintenance procedures and assume accountability of manpower and materials.
  • Make recommendations to ensure the Distribution Center has the proper equipment to remain fully operational.
  • Assist in determining the appropriate disposition of excess equipment to optimize utilization, cost effectiveness, and salvage value.
  • Supervise the fixed assets of the distribution center and maintain a spare parts inventory of various types of material handling equipment.
  • Provide adequate staffing for all areas of responsibility and approve leave and vacation schedules.
  • Ensure a continuing program of training is accomplished and develop safe working conditions and practices.
  • Interview and select personnel, complete work performance appraisals, and propose disciplinary action.
  • Implement and provide oversight to the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Requirements:
  • Three years of general experience providing knowledge of general maintenance concepts and operational systems.
  • One year of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs to mechanical and electrical components of powered equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of directly related academic study above the high school level or 36 weeks of completed study in a business school or technical training institute.
