Job Overview

Horrocks is seeking a highly skilled Professional Engineer to join our team as a Traffic Engineer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and managing projects related to traffic and transportation infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop project work plans and scopes of work to ensure timely and within-budget completion
  • Provide project oversight and schedule monitoring to ensure project deliverables meet client expectations
  • Prepare fee proposals and track and manage project budgets and invoicing to ensure financial stability
  • Produce project deliverables, including technical memoranda, design plans, and specifications, to meet client requirements
  • Design signing and striping improvements for urban streets, rural highways, and interstates, as well as traffic signal and lighting systems
  • Develop maintenance of traffic and traffic control plans to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow
  • Administer quality assurance for project deliverables to ensure high-quality results
  • Prepare supporting calculations, construction specifications, and permitting in various jurisdictions to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Prepare construction cost models and engineer opinion of probable cost for projects through various stages of development
  • Partner with other Horrocks practice leaders to assist on multi-disciplinary project pursuits
  • Maintain effective communications with clients and project teams to ensure project success
Requirements
  • A self-directed practitioner with strong project management and project delivery skills
  • Ability to supervise staff, bid projects, and develop project execution plans and technical deliverables
  • Outstanding client and personnel skills and the ability to persuasively communicate at all levels
  • Technical expert with outstanding team building, writing, proposal development, cost estimating, and program execution skills
  • Must be able to work effectively as a team leader in a group environment and maintain positive relationships with team members and clients
  • Organized and detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD, Civil 3D
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or ability to obtain PE within one year
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience with an emphasis in civil design including traffic
  • Experience working with municipal clients in Idaho
  • Strong industry relationships and an understanding of municipal, state, and federal criteria
  • Significant experience and understanding of local, regional, state, and federal policies, programs, and procedures
