Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review construction documents and perform on-site inspections to verify compliance with applicable building codes and ordinances.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, including contractors and property owners, to facilitate the permit and inspection process.
  • Document inspection results and calculate project requirements accurately.
Compensation and Benefits:

The hourly wage ranges from $26.45 to $31.42, based on experience. The employer sponsors ICC Residential Building Inspector certifications.

Benefits include:

  • 40 hours of paid vacation after six months of employment.
  • Participation in the Public Employees Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI), which offers a pension plan with a five-year vesting period and an 11.96% employer contribution.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess one of the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • A high school diploma/GED with an associate degree in Building Inspection, Engineering, Architectural Drafting, or a related field, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.

Applicants must have or be able to obtain related ICC Residential Building Inspector certifications.

Knowledge Requirements:

Ideal candidates will have a working knowledge of:

  • Building, mechanical, energy, and fire codes.
  • State housing laws and local zoning ordinances.
  • Health and safety regulations.
  • Construction plans, materials, methods, and safety standards.
Additional Requirements:

Possession of a valid driver’s license and insurability is necessary.
