The candidate will be responsible for acquiring suitable specimens to fulfill testing requirements established by specific laboratory protocols, employing aseptic techniques and adhering to OSHA bloodborne pathogen regulations.
Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated professionalism in interactions with personnel, patients, and their families.
- Clear and concise communication skills.
- Understanding of clinical laboratory operations and standards for evaluating departmental performance and suggesting enhancements.
- Proficiency in the proper use of laboratory instruments.
- Familiarity with laboratory regulatory standards and safety protocols.
- Expertise in specimen collection, laboratory software, and established lab procedures.
Core Responsibilities:
- Foster a compassionate and healing atmosphere that prioritizes patient and family needs throughout their experience.
- Accurately identify patients and provide appropriate care instructions. Conduct venipuncture and capillary punctures.
- Perform clinical assessments on patients/specimens as required.
- Knowledgeable in Point of Care testing using CLIA waived methodologies.
- Adhere to OSHA regulations.
- Conduct daily maintenance, quality control, quality assurance, and sample evaluations.
- Educate other lab personnel on proper laboratory protocols and procedures.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
- Assist with non-clinical tasks as directed by supervisory staff.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate's Degree or completion of a Vocational School program in phlebotomy from an accredited institution is preferred, along with relevant experience. Licensure, registry, or certification such as ASCP is advantageous. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in phlebotomy is required.
Essential Requirements:
Current BLS/CPR certification is necessary. Regular travel to various laboratory locations is expected.
