Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Management Specialist to join our team at the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing financial management and analysis support to multiple complex projects within our division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Provide financial management and analysis for multiple complex projects within our division, including preparing financial projections and various financial reports.
  • Compliance: Review, authorize, and approve expenditures, reconcile financial statements, and ensure compliance with policies, federal regulations, auditing requirements, contractual obligations, time schedules, and budgetary limitations.
  • Teamwork: Work with various teams, including project, administrative, and financial staff, to ensure team members are updated with financial information and provide customer service support on financial matters when needed.
  • Analysis: Provide analysis and recommendations to support the Deputy Director of Program Finance with financial management of the division, and provide advice and counsel to program staff on finance-related matters.
  • Communication: Collaborate with program staff and the Deputy Director of Program Finance to obtain regular updates on program spending, and alert team members of potential financial and contractual issues.
  • Leadership: May serve as a mentor or resource to support staff, and may have supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Experience: Six years of related professional experience, two years of which were in a supervisory capacity (if the job includes supervisory responsibilities).
  • Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and financial principles, related federal regulations, and OMB Circulars; ability to perform financial analyses; comprehensive knowledge of spreadsheet, forecasting, and other computer-based financial tools, including advanced Excel skills.
