Junior Linux Support Engineer

Location Requirements: Candidates must be within 90 miles of designated areas. This position operates in a hybrid model, requiring 2-3 days a week in the office.

Position Overview:

As a Junior Linux Administrator at CBTS, you will collaborate with a dedicated technical support team to deliver exceptional service to various clients utilizing a range of hardware and software solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Engaging with clients to comprehend their requirements and expectations, while staying informed about current architectural trends.
  2. Conducting interviews with clients' technical teams to gather essential information for defining architectural needs.
  3. Assisting in the design of small to medium-scale projects, working closely with project managers.
  4. Establishing and validating testing criteria for project solutions.
  5. Designing services that align with company standards and industry best practices.
  6. Developing and maintaining scripts to automate and monitor client systems (e.g., Cloud Watch, OEM, Splunk).
  7. Staying updated on vendor best practices regarding technology integration (Linux, AWS Cloud, Azure Cloud).
  8. Providing insights on system performance optimization, capacity planning, and maintenance updates.
  9. Creating and maintaining standard templates for consistent build processes.
  10. Collaborating with vendors to ensure service level agreements are met.
  11. Planning and executing small to medium-scale changes in production environments.
  12. Assessing the impact and risks associated with changes in production systems.
  13. Installing, configuring, patching, and maintaining necessary technologies (e.g., servers, databases, networks, storage).
  14. Designing and supporting small to medium-scale disaster recovery tests.
  15. Drafting and reviewing technical recovery plans for systems.
  16. Demonstrating a commitment to service excellence in all tasks.
  17. Assisting the Linux team with significant system upgrades and associated products.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. 1-2 years of experience in Linux Server Administration.
  2. At least 1 year of experience in Public Cloud administration (AWS, Azure, Google, OCI).
  3. A minimum of 1 year of experience in an enterprise-level operations team.
  4. Must be a US Citizen and able to pass thorough background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with AWS Cloud.
  2. Proficiency in scripting languages (Python and Shell).
  3. Familiarity with Terraform.
  4. Experience with Splunk and OEM administration.
  5. Knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  6. Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
