Job Title: Senior Controls Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our team in Austin, TX. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership in delivering automation systems for a wide variety of industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of engineers in identifying requirements, developing specifications, and implementing/testing/commissioning/qualifying automation solutions.
  • Interact directly with customers to understand their needs and provide innovative automation solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms.
  • Design and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery.
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, including power distribution under 480VAC, control panels, and associated NEC references.
  • Write technical documentation, including project definition and requirements, clearly delineated status reporting, process control sequence of operations, standard practices and procedures, scope of supply, requests for information, customer correspondence, and code commenting.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians to provide control system solutions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Greater than 10 years of experience in industries such as Semiconductor, EV, Life Sciences, Building Automation, and Food and Beverage.
  • In-depth understanding of PLC hardware/software platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Schneider.
  • In-depth understanding of HMI/SCADA hardware/software platforms such as Inductive Automation Ignition, Wonderware ArchestrA System Platform, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View, and Siemens.
  • Experience in the design of electrical schematics, including power distribution under 480VAC, control panels, and associated NEC references.
  • Technical writing experience, including project definition and requirements, clearly delineated status reporting, process control sequence of operations, standard practices and procedures, scope of supply, requests for information, customer correspondence, and code commenting.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers/technicians to provide control system solutions.
  • Experience mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Professional references, preferably one from each of the following: a customer, a subordinate, a peer, and a manager.
