Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Dental Patient Services Representative to join our team at Hawai'i Island Community Health Center. As a key member of our dental team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greets patients and visitors, checks them in for scheduled and walk-in appointments, and updates patient records as needed.
  • Schedules/reschedules/cancels/verifies new office appointments and return appointments, and processes patient encounters and missed appointments.
  • Collects and updates patient data, including personal, health, and insurance information, and prepares patient charts for scheduled and walk-in appointments.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility, collects payment from patients, and posts charges according to established procedures.
  • Assists patients who are unable to pay for their visit and coordinates with the eligibility department.
  • Provides general information to patients concerning functions of HICHC and answers the telephone and connects callers to the appropriate offices or individual staff.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or GED certificate.
  • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training is required; OR any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
  • Basic knowledge of general office procedures, including filing, copying, and faxing.
  • Ability to use a computer to enter patient data and retrieve information to generate reports and payment receipts.
  • Ability to cope with and manage stressful situations, work on multiple tasks within established deadlines, and take the initiative to resolve patient concerns and problems.
Working Conditions

The work environment is a dental clinic with possible exposure to airborne and bloodborne pathogens. The noise level is usually moderate, and work hours are 40 hours per week with overtime as needed.
