Legal Secretary

As a Legal Secretary with JobsQuest, you will provide critical clerical support in a legal department, court, or district attorney office. Your responsibilities will include processing mail, maintaining files, transcribing minutes, and gathering pertinent documentation. You will assist in the preparation and proceeding of court cases by organizing and maintaining documentation and administering oaths.
About the RoleLegal Secretaries work primarily in an office or courtroom setting and are overseen and reviewed by the attorneys to whom they are assigned. This role does not have any supervisory responsibilities. If you are detail-oriented, organized, and have excellent communication skills, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare cases for court by organizing, serving, filing, producing, drafting, editing, and maintaining documentation and legal paperwork.
- Perform various administrative activities, including creating and updating files, maintaining documents, and tracking information using various forms and computer systems.
- Serve as a liaison to various stakeholders by coordinating with attorneys, representatives of opposing parties, witnesses, city departments, jurors, and judges to communicate information and activity related to case development and trial proceedings.
- Assist the judge with the administration of courtroom procedures by recording rulings, managing physical and electronic copies of case information, and providing information during proceedings.
- Work experience researching information and materials to complete work and/or projects.
- Work experience performing clerical work, including drafting and typing letters and memos using legal terminology, proofing documents, answering telephones, and handling public questions and comments.
- Experience working in a civil or criminal law office.
- Five (5) years of experience as a Legal Secretary.
Work is conducted almost exclusively indoors in an office or courtroom setting. Work involves the use of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, etc.
Physical DemandsThe job is primarily sedentary, involving sitting for long periods of time, but may involve occasional walking or standing for brief periods.
