A prominent global logistics firm is seeking a skilled Customs Clearance Specialist to enhance their operations.


This role mandates a minimum of 3 years of experience in customs brokerage within the international shipping sector. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of regulations governing both imports and exports.

If you lack a broker license, your application may still be considered if you can demonstrate substantial knowledge of international shipping processes.

This is a full-time, direct hire position, with benefits including Medical and Dental insurance following a probationary period. Please note that this is an in-office role, requiring attendance Monday through Friday.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary customer service liaison between the company and its clients.
  • Process customs and OGA (Other Government Agency) entries for the clearance of goods into the United States.
  • Open files and accurately enter notes, information, and document requests in Cargowise and/or AS400 systems.
  • Classify invoices according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
  • Communicate with various stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, service providers, and U.S. Government agencies, as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Government regulatory agencies such as FDA, EPA, FCC, and Fish & Wildlife.
  • Convert and verify shipment weight, volume, and foreign currency.
  • Maintain effective communication with customers, carriers, and vendors.
  • Coordinate pickups and manage invoice files.
  • Assist customers with inquiries, complaints, and tracking requests.
  • Handle accounting processes accurately and promptly.
  • Oversee shipments from airlines, ocean piers, and container freight stations to customer destinations.
  • Review documentation to ensure compliance with government and carrier regulations.
  • Ensure timely and courteous responses to emails and phone calls.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience in customs brokerage or a related field.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Government Agency requirements.
  • Proficient in U.S. Customs and OGA clearance processes.
  • Computer literate, with experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with diverse internal and external customers.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Able to read and interpret documents effectively.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions in various formats.
  • Strong multitasking abilities.
  • Mathematical skills essential for accurate calculations.
