Position Overview:

The Experiential Therapist I is responsible for the design, execution, and assessment of therapeutic programs tailored to the unique needs of patients and residents. This role involves comprehensive documentation within specified program areas and includes mentoring and coordinating with team members. The therapist is expected to ensure the daily operations of the department are maintained in the absence of leadership. A strong foundation in various expressive and recreational modalities is essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Professional Conduct:
    Maintain a professional demeanor while fostering collaborative relationships across disciplines to enhance a team-focused care environment.
  • Leadership and Mentorship:
    Provide guidance and serve as a role model, integrating group dynamics into therapeutic processes.
  • Communication:
    Engage with individuals in a professional manner, addressing concerns constructively and respectfully.
  • Program Participation:
    Contribute to the Rogers Operating System (ROS) by understanding and applying its principles to departmental functions, while also educating colleagues about experiential therapy practices.

Program Development:
Design and implement experiential therapy sessions, adapting programming to meet the evolving needs of patients and residents. This includes maintaining necessary supplies and equipment, and being adaptable to schedule changes.

Documentation and Compliance:
Ensure all treatment plans and therapeutic documentation align with established policies, while also assisting in the auditing process to uphold quality standards.

Patient Interaction:
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of intervention strategies, ensuring patient safety through appropriate monitoring and de-escalation techniques.

Internship Supervision:
Oversee student interns, providing guidance and support in conjunction with the Experiential Therapy manager, while also contributing to the development of internship policies.

Staff Engagement:
Adhere to infection control and employee health protocols, participating in all mandatory training and educational sessions relevant to the role.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain accurate records. The role may involve exposure to challenging patient behaviors, necessitating physical and mental resilience.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with preferred certifications in expressive therapies. A Master's degree or relevant certification is highly desirable, along with experience in group facilitation within a behavioral health context.
