Position Overview:

This role involves documentation within specified program areas and coordination, evaluation, and mentorship of team members. The therapist will also ensure the basic staffing requirements and daily operations of the department are met in the absence of leadership. A comprehensive understanding of various expressive and recreational modalities is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional demeanor and foster supportive, collaborative relationships across all disciplines to encourage a positive, team-oriented care approach.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance and serve as a role model, integrating group dynamics into therapeutic processes.
  • Communication: Engage with individuals professionally and address peer concerns constructively, adhering to established behavioral agreements.
  • Operational Participation: Engage in the Rogers Operating System (ROS) by understanding its processes, applying the model to departmental functions, and contributing to the development of monitoring services.
  • Staff Development: Assist in the recruitment, training, and education of new team members, providing input during interviews and aiding in the orientation of staff regarding experiential therapy principles.

Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure adherence to Joint Commission and other regulatory standards, participating in ongoing education to remain informed about relevant guidelines.

Program Development:
Conduct experiential therapy sessions as scheduled, evaluate and coordinate programming to meet the diverse needs of patients and residents, and maintain the necessary supplies and equipment for the department.

Documentation and Treatment:
Complete treatment plans and evaluations in accordance with established policies, ensuring thorough documentation of therapeutic activities.

Patient Interaction:
Demonstrate knowledge of intervention strategies, monitor patient behavior, and establish therapeutic rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.

Internship Supervision:
Oversee student interns in collaboration with the Experiential Therapy manager, contributing to the development and review of internship policies.

Additional Requirements:
Comply with infection control and employee health protocols, attend mandatory training sessions, and fulfill all educational obligations related to licensure and regulatory requirements.

Physical and Educational Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a BS/BA degree in a relevant field, with a Master's degree or certification in a related area preferred. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in group facilitation within a behavioral health context is required.
