The therapist is expected to uphold basic staffing requirements and ensure the daily operations of the department in the absence of leadership. A comprehensive understanding of various expressive and recreational modalities is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional demeanor while fostering supportive, collaborative relationships across all disciplines to enhance a team-oriented approach to care.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance and serve as a role model, integrating group dynamics into therapeutic processes.
  • Effective Communication: Engage with individuals professionally and address concerns with peers constructively, focusing on solutions and demonstrating respect.
  • Program Participation: Actively engage in the Rogers Operating System (ROS), understanding its processes and applying its model to departmental functions.
  • Staff Development: Assist in the recruitment, training, and education of new employees, contributing to the mentorship of staff in the principles of Experiential Therapy.

Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure adherence to Joint Commission and other regulatory agency guidelines, participating in learning opportunities to stay informed about relevant standards.

Programming and Documentation:
Conduct experiential therapy sessions as scheduled, adapting programming to meet the evolving needs of patients and residents. Complete treatment plans and therapeutic documentation in accordance with established policies.

Patient Knowledge:
Demonstrate an understanding of intervention strategies, maintaining patient safety through appropriate monitoring and de-escalation techniques. Establish therapeutic rapport while respecting professional boundaries.

Intern Supervision:
Oversee student interns, contributing to the development and review of policies related to the internship program.

Additional Requirements:
Comply with infection control and employee health protocols, attending mandatory training and in-services relevant to the position. Engage in monthly meetings with leadership for clinical guidance and program evaluation.

Physical and Educational Qualifications:
Possess a BS/BA degree in a relevant field, with a Master's Degree or certification in a related discipline preferred. Experience in group facilitation within a behavioral health context is required.
