Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced physician to lead our Apheresis Service and Transfusion Medicine team at Banner University Medical Center Tucson. The successful candidate will have a strong background in transfusion medicine, including therapeutic apheresis and stem cell collection and processing, immunohematology, transfusion products management, coagulation, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a FACT-accredited Apheresis Service
  • Support the FACT-accredited laboratory and clinical operations of the hematopoietic cellular therapy, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell, and transplantation program
  • Provide pre- and post-transplant transfusion medicine consultations and consultations for patients with various transfusion support needs
  • Lead Apheresis Service quality and safety initiatives and present at hospital Quality and Safety Council
  • Share blood bank/transfusion service with the Director of Blood Bank
  • Cover afterhours/weekend on-call activities for therapeutic apheresis, blood bank/transfusion, coagulation service and clinical laboratory
Requirements
  • MD/DO
  • Board Certified in Clinical Pathology and subspecialty certification in Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine
  • Completion of fellowship training and/or significant additional expertise in Apheresis, including stem cell and CAR-T collections, and transfusion service
  • Minimum years of experience: 3+
  • Hold or be eligible for State of Arizona Medical License
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly activity appropriate to academic medicine, Clinical Scholar track
  • Teaching experience (medical students, residents and/or fellows) in academic laboratory medicine
