Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Correctional Supervisor to join our team at the State of Alaska. This role requires a strong background in correctional services and excellent leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Correctional Officers 4 who lead Correctional Officers 1/2/3 and serve as the on-site supervisor for the Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC).
  • Meet daily with operations staff to review security issues or problems, potential safety hazards, and make recommendations or corrections.
  • Participate in inspections with the Assistant Superintendent to ensure adherence to established policy and procedure.
  • Ensure adequate staffing on all security posts; review and schedule overtime coverage; approve/disapprove leave requests submitted by staff.
  • Ensure systematic searches of facility areas are conducted by shift staff; address any factors necessary to deter and respond to escape attempts, emergency situations, and other potential security breaches.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of the Alaska Correctional Officer Academy or equivalent program accredited by the Alaska Police Standards Council.
  • One year experience performing lead work over employees engaged in security duties supporting the custody, security, and reformation of prisoners in an adult correctional institution.
  • Additional qualifications may include training, guiding, or evaluating lower-level Correctional Officers as a designated Field Training Officer.
