Job Summary

The Director of Marketing and Communications is a key member of the University Advancement team at Rochester Institute of Technology. This role is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to support the university's fundraising and engagement goals. The Director will lead a team of communications professionals and work closely with colleagues across campus to create and execute a multichannel advancement marketing and communications plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic marketing and communications plan to elevate overall alumni engagement, annual fund solicitation, and communication efforts
  • Lead a team of communications professionals to create and execute marketing and communication efforts specific to the solicitation and stewardship of leadership, major, principal, and planned gifts
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the division and across campus to ensure a unified and impactful approach to marketing and communications
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership in the development of college/unit-based key messaging, case statements, and fundraising collateral
  • Drive consistency of message, style, tone, and voice across all marketing channels
  • Lead ongoing data reporting and analysis efforts specific to marketing channel performance and drive data-driven strategic planning and course-correcting as needed
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of marketing or fundraising communications experience required
  • Proven experience leading, inspiring, and motivating teams in a fast-paced, highly productive, relationship-based environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, outstanding verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Significant and successful persuasive writing and editing experience
  • Strong computer skills and advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong project management skills and leadership skills
