Role Overview:
The Medical Technologist 1 plays a crucial role in executing diagnostic evaluations and procedures within the clinical laboratory of a healthcare facility. This position involves analyzing specimen samples utilizing scientific principles and methodologies to deliver precise test outcomes. The role necessitates independent decision-making and the ability to oversee laboratory staff when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver precise test results adhering to established protocols.
- Manage multiple laboratory procedures concurrently.
- Ensure timely completion of patient and quality control tasks.
- Identify, document, and resolve equipment or procedural issues.
- Engage in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement initiatives and remain informed on advancements in the field.
- Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and effectively manage workload.
- Support laboratory operations and maintain comprehensive documentation.
- Accurately perform venipuncture and adhere to specimen handling guidelines.
- Guarantee quality control and the accuracy of test results reported.
- Facilitate effective communication with colleagues and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.
- Assist in managing inventory and procuring laboratory supplies.
- Complete laboratory procedures in a timely manner and prioritize urgent tasks.
- Exhibit professionalism, leadership qualities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant experience and an Associate's degree are required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. A valid Medical Technologist license and ASCP Certification are advantageous.
Skills & Competencies:
Ability to analyze and prioritize tasks, communicate effectively, manage stressful situations, and demonstrate sound judgment. Proficient in relevant technology and software applications.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, the capability to lift objects, and frequent visual acuity. The work environment is fast-paced and may involve exposure to various hazards.
