Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service by engaging positively with patients, visitors, and staff, while embodying the core values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication.
  • Manage financial transactions by collecting deposits or deductibles, informing patients about their insurance benefits, and providing cost estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with financial documentation and regulatory requirements by explaining necessary forms and obtaining patient signatures.
  • Conduct medical necessity screenings and collaborate with healthcare professionals to secure essential information for scheduling and authorizations.
  • Utilize medical terminology to accurately schedule procedures and coordinate with various departments to prevent scheduling conflicts.
  • Perform patient registration tasks to guarantee accurate financial and biographical data entry into hospital systems.
  • Oversee insurance processing, including account creation, verification, and follow-ups on claims.
  • Handle incoming calls with professionalism, exercising judgment in scheduling appointments and addressing patient inquiries.
  • Communicate procedure preparations to patients, ensuring they are well-informed prior to their appointments.
  • Document all relevant information in registration systems and utilize electronic verification tools for accuracy.
  • Analyze patient accounts to identify non-collectable accounts and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Facilitate payment arrangements and provide information on external financial assistance options.
  • May assist with Accounts Payable tasks, including payment processing and account reconciliation.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and safety standards while performing related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent; vocational training in medical office practices is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year in a medical office or hospital setting, with a focus on healthcare eligibility and scheduling.
  • Certifications: Certification as a Medical Assistant may be required for certain positions.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of office management practices, including billing and scheduling in healthcare.
  • Proficient in basic computer operations and office equipment.
  • Understanding of patient care protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to evaluate patient needs and provide follow-up support.
