Job Summary

The GeorgiaGov is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to serve as the Dean of Adult Education and Training. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports directly to the Vice President of Economic Development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and supervise adult education programs to meet the needs of area individuals and employers.
  • Plan and organize the work of the unit to meet the college's goals and objectives.
  • Administer instructional services for Adult Education students, including student intake and assessment, curriculum implementation, and student education plans.
  • Promote the Adult Education Program to public and private organizations throughout the state.
  • Review and approve requests for supplies and materials, and prepare specifications and budgets for the program.
  • Oversee the administration of assessment and student placement tests for Adult Education students.
  • Represent the department at various internal and external meetings.
  • Maintain or oversee the maintenance of student records.
  • Supervise subordinate employees and create a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Three years of related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in education or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills, marketing ability, program planning experience, and outstanding management skills.
  • Background or work experience in adult learning techniques and the delivery of educational services to an adult population.
  • Prior supervisor experience and/or a background in financial management, including budget development and oversight responsibilities and contracts administration.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires a high level of physical and mental energy, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be required to travel frequently and work irregular hours as needed.
